The Glow-Up Reunion

Every so often, the chair brings someone back from your past. This one hit harder than most
— because a girl who once made my life hell in high school ended up sitting in front of me
years later, asking me to do her makeup.

Back in school, she was the one who always had something slick to say. Comments about my clothes, my skin, whatever she could pick at. Nothing major, but enough that you never forget
it. So when she booked with me for her engagement photos, my first thought was, Seriously?
Her?

She walked in like nothing ever happened. Smiling, friendly, acting like we’d been cool all
along. I decided to keep it professional, but inside I was bracing myself. Old memories don’t
die quick.

As I worked, though, she started talking. About how she’d grown up, mellowed out, how she
wasn’t proud of how she treated people back then. She didn’t outright apologize, but it was
there between the lines. And honestly? It caught me off guard.

The whole time, I kept blending, focusing on making her look radiant for her shoot. When I
spun her around to the mirror, she got quiet. Then she smiled — a real one, not the fake high
school smirk I remembered. She whispered, ‘Wow… I’ve never felt this pretty.’

In that moment, all the old tension just kind of melted away. I realized people really can
change. And sometimes, life gives you the wildest full-circle moments. The girl who once tore
me down was now thanking me for building her up.

She left hugging me, promising to book again. And she did. Over time, she became one of my
most loyal clients. Funny how the universe works.
