The Beauty Budget Test

Not every client walks in with an unlimited budget. Some bring Pinterest boards full of
inspiration — and wallets that say otherwise. That was the setup for one of my most
memorable client consults.

She wanted full glam: flawless skin, smoky eyes, lashes, contour, and lips to match. The
catch? Her budget could only cover a fraction of the services. It wasn’t about money-shaming
— it was about finding the best way to give her what she wanted without pretending I could
bend math.

So I turned it into what I now call the Beauty Budget Test. I laid out her options clearly: pick
two priorities, and I’d make them shine. Skin, eyes, lips — what mattered most? The rest we’d
scale back, still polished but simplified.

She chose flawless skin and bold eyes. Out went the heavy contour and statement lip, in
came a complexion that glowed under the lights and eyes that demanded attention. When she
looked in the mirror, she didn’t see what was missing — she saw a look that worked.

Sometimes artistry is about adapting, not indulging. Budgets happen, but beauty always finds
a way.
